Free matinee show! Alt-country/rock originally from Lawrence, KS.
The Keen formed in the crucible of the famous Yello Sub sandwich shop in Lawrence, Kansas in late 1996 where founding members Andy Bricker (drums), Mike Maher (guitar & vocals), and Meredith Rubis (violin, keys & vocals) worked and listened to music together. Friends Dave Slade (bass) and Chris Beightel (mandolin, guitar & vocals) joined soon after, and the band's mix of rock and alt-country original songs quickly made them a featured act in the vibrant college-town music scene. Existing as Virginia Keen in their first iteration, the group released their only album, “Little Easy Chair,” in 1997. They parted ways in 2003 but have recently reunited as The Keen to share their love of creating original songs and the magic of making music with friends.
